I installed the Trim Illusion Chrome Delete Grille Overlay in black on my 2021 Toyota Highlander and I am really happy with how it turned out. The quality feels solid and the fit is very precise. It instantly modernized the front end and got rid of the chrome that always bothered me.
Installation was very easy, especially after watching a couple of Trim Illusion videos. I washed my car, cleaned the chrome with isopropyl alcohol to remove any residue let it dry, and then did a couple of full test fit to understand exactly how the piece should sit. Once I felt confident about the alignment, I peeled the backing off the adhesive strips completely, seated the clips first, and then applied the overlay starting with the emblem opening. Getting the circle around the Toyota badge aligned perfectly helped the rest of the piece drop into place naturally.
After everything was positioned and pressed down, I used a hair dryer to warm the adhesive and applied firm pressure for about 30 seconds to make sure the bond was extra secure. The whole process was very quick. It took less than 20 minutes from start to finish. Most of that time was spent checking where the clips were located so I could push on them correctly and removing the tape backing.
The overlay feels sturdy, sits perfectly flush, and looks like it came from the factory. I would definitely recommend this grille delete to anyone who wants a clean blacked out look for their Highlander with a simple and efficient installation.
